Elle a été édifiée au XII et XIII siècle en pierres calcaires ( pierres de CREUILLY) très riche dans le sous sol du Bessin.
Cette ancienne église paroissiale du CAINET, ( CAYNET sur la carte de CASSINI [1756] ), est entourée d'un cimetière qui fût probablement une nécropole médiévale.
La singularité de ce lieu réside sur le fait de la présence d'une sculpture contemporaine, curiosité si il en est !
A l'avant de la chapelle, le lavoir construit en 1867
