North Sea Aquarium
Native and surprising
The secrets of the local marine world can be discovered in 18 creatively designed Schaubecken in around 450,000 liters of water. Dockyards with piling walls and footbridges, coastal areas with mud banks, rocks and moles form an authentic backdrop for cod, golden bream, red gurnard, seaskorpions or wolf bass.
Dangerous to poisonous are the numerous rays and the big saint peter. Beautiful and surprising appear starfish, flowers and hermit crabs. The octopus in the fissures will not escape the observant, patient observer.
The mighty skull bone of a sperm whale is also to be admired in the largely open, bottomdeep basin landscape. A wave system simulates the water movement for inhabitants of currents and waves, which orient their rhythm of life according to the rhythm of the waves.
This trip is to be crowned with a walk through the ten-meter-long North Sea Panoramatunnel, which offers a breathtaking view of sea wolves, rays, cat and smooth sharks.
