If you don't mind walking over a kilometre (each way) then you will be able to get some regular parking down near the Long Reef Golf Club, at the end of ANZAC Avenue. But the parking near the trig costs $1 for 12 minutes, or $5 per hour!
Not too far from the trig is an Orientation Table, which also doubles as a You Are Here, and a 3D Map category. BONUS!

Visited: Sunday, 9 April, 2016; yes, I had also found it back in the 1970s and the 1980s, so it was good to see that it is still doing so well.
