This is a photo is looking out in a westerly direction across the "Battleship" feature and the next ridge which extends to Dana Butte. The separation of these two ridges is not evident in Adams' photo.
In 1941 the National Park Service commissioned noted photographer Ansel Adams to create a photo mural for the Department of the Interior Building in Washington, DC. The theme was to be nature as exemplified and protected in the U.S. National Parks. The project was halted because of World War II and never resumed.
The waymark page photo is a black and white taken by me at this location and which approximates the Ansel Adams photo, an example of which is included in the gallery.
