The Goondiwindi Court House was officially opened on 22nd September 1956 by Vincent Clair Gair Premier and Chief Secretary of Queensland.

A two story brick building occupying a corner position. The Magistrates Court & District Court Register are on the ground floor & at the rear is the Court Room. The Lands Department occupies the upper floor. The plaque declaring the Official Opening is beside the entrance door.

Vincent Clair Gair
Vincent Clair Gair was Premier and Chief Secretary of Queensland from 17 January 1952 to 12 August 1957. He was expelled from his own party, The Australian Labor Party, while in office, and formed the breakaway Queensland Labor Party (QLP), which in 1962 merged with the Democratic Labor Party (DLP). In 1964 he was elected to federal parliament as a DLP Senator for Queensland, his term commencing on 1 July 1965. In 1973, by which time the DLP's Senate numbers had risen to five, internal issues caused Gair to resign as leader of the party from 10 October.
Vince Gair remained a senator until 11 April 1974, at which time he retired.
