[EN] You are now in the aera where camping sites Cosmos and Crystal Palace used to be. These dunes were completely created by the Costal Division of the Flemish Govermment in 2011.
The aera has an important sea defence function. An extra line of dunes was development which can grow further in order to offer excellent protection against see flooding. During the development of the dunes attention was paid to their ecological and recreational values.
In the centre of the aera you can find the well-preserved Seydlitz coastal battery, a remnant of World War II.
[FR] Vous êtes maintenant dans le domaine qui abritait auparavant les campings Cosmos et Crystal Palace. En 2011 ces dunes ont été entièrement créés par la Division de la Côte des Autorités Flamandes.
Le domaine a une importante fonction de défense contre la mer. Un cordon de dunes supplémentaire a été aménagé, lequel pourra continuer de se développer et constituer ainsi une excellente protection contre les inondations. Cet aménagement a été réalisé sans perdre de vue les aspects écologique et récréatif.
Au centre du domaine l'on trouve une batterie de défense côtière bien conservée, du nom de Seydlitz , un vestige de la Seconde Guerre Mondiale.
