Wheeler's Raid Around Rosecrans ---Dec. 31, 1862---
Leaving its overnight bivouac three miles west. Wheeler's Cavalry Brigade, having passed completely around Rosecrans' army, crossed the highway here about 3:30 A.M., rejoining Bragg's Army of Tennessee in time to actively screen its left flank during the Battle of Murfreesboro.
