In 1875 the Palmer Drug Store Block, also known as the Commercial Block was repaired after a fire burned in its North end. In 1879 another fire devastated the same end and the entire building was rebuilt in 1880 as the Palmer Block. This building remained until 1920 when it collapsed. There is no information on why it collapsed but many of the current buildings replaced this one. In 1927 the Zaharte-Palen Building was built for commercial space as one of those replacement buildings. The building was added as a contributing due to its architecture and age but it is unknown who rented this Commercial Vernacular during its early years. Today it is one half on Italiano's Restaurant.
