CN 79242 rests on the grounds of the old train station which is now home to the Fort Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce and tourist visitor centre. Recognition goes to the Kinsmen Club and Fort Saskatchewan Historical Society for preserving the station and railway equipment including this fine caboose.
The first train arrived in Fort Saskatchewan on November 8, 1905. It signaled new prosperity - a means of bringing settlers and businesses to the town and a way of sending wheat and other products to market
