Geo. Sexauer and Sons was a prominent grain, feed, seed, and coal company with locations in central and eastern South Dakota.

George P. Sexauer established the Seed Company in 1897 and constructed a building in Brookings, SD, just south of the railroad tracks.

His legacy lived through his family with son Elmer, grandson Robert, and great-grandson Robb being involved in the business.

Sexauer Seed company had many grain elevators in the area including Brookings, Bushnell, Arlington, DeSmet, Erwin, Bancroft, Miller, and Gettysburg to name a few.

The company went out of business and the main office in Brookings now houses an insurance company.

I worked for this company in the late 1960s and was stationed at the elevator in Erwin. SD.
