In Lake Placid, in the Olympic Center Museum under the 1980 ice rink, is this display of a hockey goal and other equipment used by the U.S. Mens Hockey Team during the 1980 Olympics in Lake Placid.

The museum is located within the Olympic Center, which is in downtown Lack Placid. Enter from any door and follow the signs to the elevator to the museum entrance. The museum exhibit area is modest - they hope to grow.

The goal is in the far corner of the room. The goal, with net, also has a flag draped from the top, and various equipment and pants in the goal cavity.

There is a sign in the upper right corner that says the following:

"1980 Ice Hockey Goal

The equipment in this goal was used by Jim Craig. the 1980 U.S. Olympic Hockey Goaltender.

In the Olympic semi-final game against the heavily favored Soviet Union, Craig stopped 36 of 39 shots on goal as the U.S. beat the Soviets 4-3 in what is widely considered one of the greatest upsets in sports history. Two days later, Craig only let in two goals and the U.S. defeated Finland 4-2 in the Olympic final and capture the Olympic gold metal."

The display is by a couch that is in front of a TV screen that shows the entire game of the semi-final round between the U.S. Hockey Team and the U.S.S.R. Hockey Team. You, too, can relive the moment when Al Michaels says, "DO YOU BELIEVE IN MIRACLES? YESS!"

Also nearby is a display case where there is a gold medal from one of the players and ID badges from each player of the team.
