From the plaque :- These panels, made by Herefordshire artist Sandra Masterson, were inspired by cockle-shells found when the area was excavated by archaeologists. It is believed the cockles were eaten by crowds attending the theatre which was once sited here. The copper was chosen as a reminder of the Roman coins also found here.
