EN: The river Saltina comes out of a narrow canyon just south of Brig and then flows through the plain to the Rhone along the old town. The river can become very dangerous during rainstorms and rapidly swell in the shortest possible time, the name "Saltina" could be translated with leaping and unstable. Since the Middle Ages, countless floods have been documented, the last major disaster in 1993 called for two people's lives and left damages of CHF 600 million.

This artificial waterfall at the entrance to the ravine is just one of many measures to control the river. The stage is about four meters high and about twenty meters wide. Just above the waterfall, there are two bridges, a smaller pedestrian bridge leads right across the river.

The narrower, but much higher, waterfall on the eastern bank is also artificial. This is the drain of a irrigation channel.

On the western bank is another tributary. The side arm of a stream flows into the Saltina through an artificial cave called the Rulli-Pulli-hole.

Am westlichen Ufer ist ein weiterer Zufluss. Der Seitenarm eines Bachs fliesst durch eine künstliche Höhle, genannt Rulli-Pulli-Loch, in die Saltina.
