At this location in 1861, Peter Neal built a saw mill and log pond. The sashmill was powered by a horizontal Parker water wheel from the Bradford Mill at the Cascades which burned during the massacre of 1856. A flood in 1867 sent logs over the dam leveling the old mill. The mill, then owned by Harbison Bros., was rebuild and a grist mill added. Operations ended in 1903.
