Looking at the exterior of the Palace of Westminster is one comprehensive history lesson, if you can read the symbols. In use since Medieval times, destroyed by fire in 1834, rebuilt, damaged in WWII and restored over several decades since, nothing is on this building just for giggles. EVERYTHING carved into the stones of the exterior (and interior) of this great building has meaning.

The waymark coordinates are for the Sovereign's Gate, but for purposes of a visit we will accept any personally-obtained photograph of Royal CoA in Westminster Palace.

Visible inside the Sovereign's gate, two sets of CoA are on disp;lay. In the center, the Royal CoA for the monarch of Great Britain (at the time of construction, Queen Victoria). On either side are the CoA for the Prince of Wales (at the time, Prince Albert, Queen Consort).

But around the exteriors of the chambers, sharp-eyed waymarkers will also spy historic CoA held by English Monarchs from the ancient to modern times.

Along the side of this amazing building, Coats of Arms for the various (in the 1830s) components of Great Britain (England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales) are mirrored with their respective symbols (Tudor Rose, Thistle, Shamrock and Leek) in a corresponding row, above.

Spend some time studying the symbols on this building, and hain a feel for the history of this land.
