At the end of the Maine et Loire, on the borders of Touraine and Saumur, the municipality of Breil has a remarkable historic site in every respect: the Domaine de Lathan.
The latter, on the edge of Lathan, consists essentially of a castle of the seventeenth century and a beautiful garden, located in the heart of a large wooded area.
Lathan Castle was built by the architect Nicolas Jacques Antoine Vestier in classic style in the second half of the nineteenth century, in place of a medieval fortress.
Lathan The park covers nearly 50 hectares of land and includes a two gardens, labeled "remarkable gardens".
The first is a sumptuous French garden whose organization is attributed to the landscape architect André Le Nôtre. You will find beautiful groves remarkably boxwood pruned and essences of traditional trees.
The second garden is a landscaped composition, forming a popular resting place for the walk.
Free visit of the Castle of Lathan gardens.
During the months of July and August open daily from 11 am to 18h except Tuesday.
In April, May, June, September and October from Thursday to Sunday from 11am to 6pm.
[FR] A l'extrémité du Maine et Loire, aux confins de la Touraine et du Saumurois, la commune de Breil abrite un site historique remarquable en tout point : le Domaine de Lathan.
Ce dernier, situé en bordure du Lathan, se compose essentiellement d'un château du XVIIème siècle et d'un somptueux jardin, placés au cœur d'une importante zone boisée.
Le Château de Lathan a été construit par l'architecte Nicolas Jacques Antoine Vestier dans un style classique dans la seconde moitié du XIXème siècle, en lieu et place d'une ancienne forteresse médiévale.
Le parc du Lathan s'étend sur près de 50 hectares de terres et comprend en fait deux jardins, labellisés « jardins remarquables ».
Le premier est un somptueux jardin à la Française dont l'organisation est attribuée au paysagiste André le Nôtre. Vous y trouverez de beaux bosquets de buis remarquablement taillés ainsi que des essences d'arbres traditionnelles.
Le second jardin est une composition paysagée, formant un lieu reposant apprécié pour la promenade.

Durant les mois de juillet et août ouvert tous les jours de 11 h à 18h sauf le mardi.
En avril, mai, juin, septembre et octobre du jeudi au dimanche de 11h à 18h.
