One of the nicer lakes in eastern South Dakota, Lake Madison is well developed with housing surrounding most of the shoreline.
While not an overly deep lake, it has six nice boat-launch facilities and there is a State Recreation Park on the south side of the lake.
Fish species include bullheads, northern pike, walleye, perch, crappie, bass, and bluegill.
