DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1963 (VBM) THE STATION IS ABOUT 2-3/4 MILES SOUTH OF SEWELLSVILLE, ABOUT 1/2 MILE EAST OF THE SMALL VILLAGE OF FAIRVIEW, 0.15 MILE SOUTHWEST OF THE JUNCTION OF U.S. HIGHWAY 40 AND STATE HIGHWAY 8, IN SECTION 26, R 6 W, T 9 N., AND ON THE PROPERTY OF THE HANNA COAL COMPANY. IT IS 3 FEET NORTHEAST OF A WITNESS POST, 18 FEET EAST OF AN 8 INCH WILD CHERRY TREE AND ABOUT 250 FEET SOUTH OF THE CENTERLINE OF U.S. HIGHWAY 40. THE MONUMENT PROJECTS 6 INCHES AND THE DISK IS STAMPED FAIR 1963. TO REACH FROM THE JUNCTION OF STATE HIGHWAYS 8 AND 147 IN BARNESVILLE, GO NORTH ON HIGHWAY 8 FOR 5.7 MILES TO THE JUNCTION WITH U.S. HIGHWAY 40. TURN LEFT AND GO WEST ON U.S. HIGHWAY AND STATE HIGHWAY 8 FOR 2.45 MILES TO A GRAVELED SIDE ROAD RIGHT AND THE AZIMUTH ON THE RIGHT IN THE NORTHEAST ANGLE OF THE INTERSECTION. CONTINUE WEST ON HIGHWAY 40 AND 8 FOR 0.25 MILE TO WHERE STATE HIGHWAY 8 TURNS NORTH. CONTINUE WEST ON U.S. HIGHWAY 40 FOR 0.3 MILE TO A DIM TRACK ROAD ON THE LEFT AT THE EAST END OF A HIGHWAY GUARD RAIL. TURN SHARP LEFT AND GO NORTHEAST AND EAST UP HILL ALONG THE SOUTH SIDE OF U.S. HIGHWAY 40 FOR 0.25 MILE TO THE HIGHEST POINT OF THE HILL AND THE STATION. REFERENCE MARK 1 IS 53 FEET NORTHWEST OF AN 8 INCH WILD CHERRY TREE AND 69 FEET NORTHEAST OF THE WITNESS POST. THE MONUMENT PROJECTS 8 INCHES AND THE DISK IS STAMPED FAIR NO 1 1963. REFERENCE MARK 2 IS 39 FEET NORTHWEST OF AN 8 INCH WILD CHERRY TREE AND 57 FEET NORTHWEST OF THE WITNESS POST. THE MONUMENT PROJECTS 8 INCHES AND THE DISK IS STAMPED FAIR NO 2 1963. THE AZIMUTH MARK IS 5 FEET SOUTHWEST OF A WITNESS POST, 7 FEET SOUTHWEST OF A TELEPHONE POLE, 43 FEET EAST OF THE CENTERLINE OF THE GRAVELED ROAD AND 59 FEET NORTH OF THE CENTERLINE OF U.S. HIGHWAY 40 AND STATE HIGHWAY 8.

From Exit 202 at the junction of Interstate Highway 70 and State Highway 800 about 5.7 miles north of Barnesville, go west on Highway 800 for 2.45 miles to a track road right and the azimuth on the right in the northeast angle of the intersection. The monument projects 2 inches above the surface of the ground and is about 10 feet above the level of the highway.
