The Royal Arch is situated at the western end of Fettercairn, a small village in Eastern Scotland at the foot of the Highlands. It was built to commemorate the overnight stay of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert in September 1861, who arrived from Balmoral over the mountains, before leaving the next day. The arch was designed by John Milne of St.Andrews and built between 1864-65 at cost of £250. It is designed in a Rhenish Romanesque style in Aldbar stone and ashlar. The arch rises between two 60 foot high buttressed octagonal towers with short gabletted spirelets. The arch was B-listed on August 18th 1972.
Type: Triumphal (Monument/Memorial)

Subtype: Memorial

Location: Main Street, Fettercairn.
