RECOVERY NOTE BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1969 (WOK) THE STATION MARK, REFERENCE MARKS 1 AND 2 AND THE AZIMUTH MARK WERE RECOVERED AND FOUND TO BE IN GOOD CONDITION. DISTANCE AND DIRECTION MEASUREMENTS WERE DOUBLE CHECKED DUE TO DIFFERENCES IN THE TWO PREVIOUS OCCUPATIONS OF THIS STATION. DUE TO CHANGES IN THE ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION A NEW AND COMPLETE REVISION IS AS FOLLOWS-- STATION IS ABOUT 4 MILES NORTHWEST OF ST. CLAIRSVILLE, 3/4 MILE NORTHEAST OF BANNOCK ON THE HIGHEST POINT OF CLARK HILL. IT IS ON THE PROPERTY OF MR. HENRY DANIELS. TO REACH FROM THE POST OFFICE IN BANNOCK, OHIO GO NORTH ON STATE HIGHWAY 331 FOR 0.7 MILE TO THE AZIMUTH MARK ON THE LEFT AND COUNTY ROAD 10 TO THE RIGHT. TURN RIGHT ON COUNTY ROAD 10 AND GO EASTERLY FOR 0.4 MILE TO A SIDE ROAD RIGHT. TURN RIGHT, SOUTHEAST, CROSSING A BRIDGE AND RAILROAD TRACKS AND GO 0.1 MILE TO A ROAD FORK. TAKE LEFT FORK, SOUTHEAST, AND GO 0.65 MILE TO A SIDE ROAD LEFT. TURN LEFT AND GO EASTERLY ON GRAVEL ROAD FOR 0.2 MILE TO A DRIVEWAY ON THE LEFT. TURN LEFT ON DRIVEWAY PASSING TO THE WEST SIDE OF HOUSE FOR ABOUT 200 FEET TO A GATE. PASS THROUGH GATE AND CONTINUE NORTHERLY ON A TRACK ROAD FOR 0.1 MILE TO A BARN ON THE RIGHT. BEAR TO THE LEFT AND GO WESTERLY UP STEEP SLOPE FOR 0.1 MILE TO HIGHEST POINT OF HILL AND STATION SITE. STATION MARK IS STAMPED CLARKSHILL USGS 1933 AND PROJECTS 1.0 FEET ABOVE GROUND SURFACE. IT IS 12.5 FEET NORTH OF A METAL WITNESS POST AND EAST-WEST FENCELINE, 43 FEET EAST OF A 12 INCH LOCUST TREE AND 52 FEET WEST-NORTHWEST OF A 4 INCH WILD CHERRY TREE. REFERENCE MARK 1 IS STAMPED CLARKSHILL USGS NO 1 1933 AND PROJECTS 1.0 FEET ABOVE GROUND SURFACE. IT IS 0.5 FOOT NORTH OF A EAST-WEST FENCELINE, 15 FEET EAST OF A 4 INCH WILD CHERRY TREE AND 64.0 FEET EAST OF A METAL WITNESS POST. REFERENCE MARK 2 IS STAMPED CLARKSHILL USGS NO 2 1933 AND PROJECTS 0.8 FOOT ABOVE GROUND SURFACE. IT IS 1.6 FEET NORTH OF A EAST-WEST FENCELINE, 24 FEET WEST OF A 12 INCH LOCUST TREE AND 31 FEET EAST OF A 10 INCH ELM TREE. CLARKS HILL RM A IS A U.S. ARMY, CORPS OF ENGINEERS DISK STAMPED CLARKS HILL RM A 1969 USATOPOCOM SET IN TOP OF A SQUARE CONCRETE MONUMENT FLUSH WITH GROUND SURFACE. A SUB-SURFACE DISK IS SET IN TOP OF A BLOCK OF CONCRETE ABOUT 3 FEET BELOW GROUND SURFACE. THE DISK IS STAMPED THE SAME AS THE SURFACE MARK. A TRAVERSE CONNECTION WAS MADE TO THIS STATION. IT IS 85.65 FEET NORTH-NORTHEAST OF STATION CLARKS HILL USGS, 1933. AZIMUTH MARK IS STAMPED CLARKSHILL USGS AZIMUTH 1933 AND IS SET FLUSH WITH GROUND SURFACE. IT IS 48 FEET NORTHWEST OF INTERSECTION OF STATE HIGHWAY 331 AND COUNTY ROAD 10, 20 FEET WEST OF THE CENTERLINE OF STATE HIGHWAY 331 AND 1.0 FEET SOUTH OF A METAL WITNESS POST. AIRLINE DISTANCE AND DIRECTION FROM NEAREST TOWN--3/4 MILE NORTHEAST OF BANNOCK, OHIO.
