An exceptionally intricate Italian alabaster Reredos, with exquisite detail in the carving and in the gold leaf highlights. Dedicated to the former Rector of Bicknor. Apparently carved buy an esteemed Italian artist. This must have been very expensive in its time, and a grand gesture to a much loved Rector.
A plaque on the side reads:
"To the Glory of
God and in loving
memory of Walter
Blunt M H late
Rector of Bicknor
Born Dec 9 1809
entered into rest
July 27 1882 JDE"
The church is open during the Summer on Mondays - 13:00 to 16:00 or 17:00. Well worth a visit and a guided tour of the church.
