The rail that was once the Chicago Northwestern Line has been replaced by the Sparta/Elroy Bike Trail. This classic depot still has the original brick waiting platform. It has maintained the features that allow you to visualize what waiting for the train was like back in 1915 when it was built. On October 13, 1948, Sparta was a stop on The Whistle stop train tour by then candidate Harry S. Truman.
