The loblolly pine is located in downtown New Orleans by the Hilton hotel.
Plaque reads:
This "Lunar" loblolly pine was grown from seed taken to the moon on Apollo 14, January 1971, by Astronaut Stuart Roosa, a former U.S Forest Service smokejumper. It was given to the International Trade Mart by the Lousiana Office of Forestry, Department of Natural Resources, June 1983, to commemorate Louisiana's multiple-use forests as a primary renewable resource. Planting was through the courtesy of Green Trees Nursery & Tree Spade Service of Donaldsonville.
