This impressive totem stands about 16 feet in height with seven traditional Indian symbols, including a fish, animals and several mythical beings. Colorful and well preserved, the totem's carver was H. Jennings and the logger was D. Hunter. It was carved and placed at the PEN Convention Center in 2007.
The Totem Pole is an arrangement of symbols, usually animals associated with a legend created for the purpose of conveying a story or event.
The figures on the poles usually represent mythical beings from the tribe's ancestral past and are a form of communication. The totem preserves the tribe's history and is a means of conveying legends, stories and events for generations.
