Chambers Bay is a public golf course that, most famously, played host to the 2015 U.S. Open.
It's website maintains this is "golf in its purest form". Going on with the description: "With tawny fescue grasses, towering sand dunes, massive fairways, and breathtaking views of the Puget Sound and snow-capped Olympic Mountains, Chambers Bay brings the traditions of Scottish linksland to the Pacific Northwest. Located in University Place, Washington, this 18-hole, walking-only course provides an authentic links experience for players of every ability."
Certainly when I was there to watch the U.S. Open in 2015 it looked to be an incredibly challenging course for the pros. It was met with much scorn for its bumpy greens and I can say that, as a spectator, it didn't have a lot of great viewing angles. However, it was fun to watch some pros rise to the challenge.
