A bilingual blue plaque (English and Welsh) commemorates some of the vanished history of the Cardiff Docks, and the sailors who worked and lived here. This area was just outside the dock gates, and sailors who needed a ship to work on waited here in hopes of a job.

The plaque reads in English as follows:

"Penniless Point where many a sailor waited for work.
Tiger Bay Tales"
