Travelling to Nelson on the Nelson-Nelway Highway on many occasions, we never noticed this elevation sign until today. This is a recently installed elevation sign as it is so new the dust has not settled on it yet, and definitely no graffiti or pock marks from run-a-way rocks. You know the kind, the ones that usually hit your windshield.
The sign is only on one side of the road with two signs attached to the posts one facing north the other south.
This is a rustic portion of the highway with many pine and spruce trees bordering the highway.
If you continue south about 15 km you will see the Stewart Creek Rest Area. Though the facilities are marginal at best, the waterfall is worth the stop. It is a short distance along a foot path just off the parking area where you will hear the water flowing and splashing.
