The pump is outside the fence but if you want to tour the site you must first go to the Minuteman Missile Visitors Center where you can watch a short film about the Cold War and the Minuteman Missile role in our defense and get tickets for the D-01 control center tours. The Control Center is about 4 miles away and you have to drive there to take the tour.
You are allowed to descend to Minuteman Missile Launch Control below ground and tour the ground level support building. Very educational. These control centers monitored and controlled multiple Minuteman Missile sites. With mutual assured destruction the stakes were high and many fail safes were in place to prevent an accidental launch
