This park is owned and maintained by the
Moss Springs Old Settlers Picnic Association (office in Sarcoxie), but is available for public use. It is located at the old Moss Springs settlement that was split by the construction of I-44. This park is found south of I-44, whilst other remnants of Moss Springs, such as the old cemetery, are found north of I-44.
The primary public event is the Old Settlers Picnic which is held annually in August. There is an active Facebook page for this event. In fact, that page is how I obtained some information about this park (such as who owns/maintains it) and the annual event (which they invited me to next year). Ironically, I was here just a short time -- perhaps 30 minutes or so -- after everyone had left the park for this year's Old Settlers Picnic!
The rest of the year the park is used by passers by as kind of a rest/picnic stop. There are no restrooms here, but the park does have 3 large picnic pavilions and 3 stand-alone concrete picnic tables, so it's unlikely that you won't find a place to have your stop-by picnic, except during the annual event. There is a large field for various sports, such as baseball/softball, volleyball, etc. The park is just for day use -- no camping or overnighting.
