After the Great War of 1914-18, it was decided to build a memorial on top of the Law Hill in Dundee. This was unveiled on the 16th May 1925. Designed by Thomas Braddock, it is constructed of Cornish granite with a bronze brazier on top, this is lit on three occasions during the year, 25th September: Battle of Loos, 24th October: United Nations Day, and 11th November: Armistice Day. There is an inscription to World War One on one of the four sides, another was added after World War Two.
