In Petersham, within the Prospect Hill tract of the Harvard Forest, is the Fisher Museum featuring dioramas and other displays about forest health and management and the research that goes on at this location by Harvard University and other partners.

The museum is located along Massachusetts Route 32, south of Mass. Route 2 and north of the center of Petersham. There is a sign pointing to the museum.

Fisher Museum is in a brick building, on the left end of a complex. The entrance leads you right into the display area. The main feature of this museum is a series of dioramas showing scenes that teach something about the forests. The first few show land use succession, starting with a scene at the time the first settlers would have arrived, then another showing agriculture, then another showing the land past active agriculture. Other dioramas show forest management techniques and expected results. One other shows a landscaped and asked the viewer to find 10 animals in it. Finally, there was a display showing how the trees were made. Other exhibits had maps of deforestation and reforestation, tree rings, and a summary of the current research being done.

There is no entrance fee, but donations are accepted.
