Caperton Station began life in 1848 as the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad station in Martinsburg.
It was burnt in 1863 during the Civil War, and rebuilt by 1868.
It was a B&O passenger station until that railroad was absorbed by the C&O, and then became an Amtrak/MARC (Maryland area Regional Commuter station.
The B&O consucted two name trains through Martinsburg - The North Mountain to Chicago, and The Shenandoah Junction to Baltimiore and Washington, DC.
Today the station, which is a contributing building in the Baltimore and Ohio and Related Industries Historic District, has 4 daily trains: Amtrak's Capitol Limited and MARC's Brunswick Line.
