Love locks became popular on the Pont des Arts in Paris where lovers would lock them and then throw the key into the River Seine beneath as a symbol of everlasting love. Last year, the locks were removed from the Pont des Arts due to the weight of the locks which caused the bridge to collapse. This tradition has then been seen around the world including the Brooklyn Bridge in New York, the Ponte Vecchio bridge in Florence, Italy, and a half-sized version of the Eiffel Tower in Las Vegas. Manchester also has a love lock bridge! This bridge is located on the beginning of Oxford Road just past McDonald's. The canal runs below it and probably holds the keys of all the lovelocks on the bridge.
