"MISS LORENA HILGEDICK AND HAROLD LANGE MARRIED
Miss Lorena Hilgedick. daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Emili Hllgedick of Marthasville, and Harold Lange, son of Mrs. Amanda Lange of Wright City. Mo., were married Saturday, November 8, 1947. at 2 p. m. at the Evangelical parsonage in St. Charles. Rev C F. Rohlfing performed the double ring ceremony. Their attendants were Miss Marie Hilgedick, sister of the bride, as bridesmaid, and William Lange, brother of tho groom as best man. The bride's dress was of white shadow sheer silk over white satin with fitted bodice and Ion sleeves tapered to a point over the hand. She wore a beaded head piece and fingertip veil edged with lace. She carried large bouquet of chrysanthemums and pompoms tied with white ribbon. The bridesmaid wore a pink shadow sheer silk over pink satin with a fitted bodice and short sleeves. She wore a pink Lowered head piece with shoulder length veil edged in lace and carried pink chrysanthemums and pompoms tied with a pink ribbon. Their mother sewed the gowns. They each wore shoes the color of their dress. The groom and best man wore dark suit and each a white flower in the lapel. A turkey supper was given at the bride's home in the evening for the immediate families. A three-tier cake decorated with the traditional bride and groom was the center of attraction. A dance was given late In the evening at the American Legion hall near Marthasville, with beer, soda and cake being served." ~ Warrenton Banner, 20 November 1947

"Emil Theodore Ernst Hilgedick, son of the late William Hilgedick, and wife, Caroline, nee Knoepker, was born at Marthasville, Missourl August 16, 1888 and departed his earthly life suddenly at his home in Marthasville August 2, at the age of 70 years, 11 months and 17 days. He spent his entire life in this vicinity, devoting this period to farming, business, public and civic affairs." ~ Washington Missourian, Thursday, August 13, 1959, Page 15

"Emil Theodore Ernst Hilgedick, son of the late William Hilgedick, and wife, Caroline, nee Knoepker, was born at Marthasville, Missouri on August 16, 1888 and departed his earthly life suddenly at his home in Marthasville on August 2, 1959 at the age of 70 years, 11 months and 17 days. He spent his entire life in this vicinity, devoting this period to farming, business, public and civic affairs. On August 28, 1888, he received the sacrament of Holy Baptism from the Rev. J. Irion at St. Paul's E. & R. Church in Marthasville. He renewed these vows through the rite of confirmation in 1902, to the Rev. J. W. Frankenfeld, at which time he became a member of the church, and remained as such until his death. In his youth he was a member of the Young Peoples League and sang in the choir. Later he joined the St Paul's Brotherhood and served on the church board a number of years. He also served his community in both county and city offices. On August 26, 1914, he was united in holy matrimony to Hattie, nee Mills. This union was blessed with five children. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Theodore. He is survived by his wife, two sons: William, of Gary, Indiana and Grover of Marthasville: three daughters: Lillie, (Mrs. Clarence Leesmann) of Wright City, Lorena, (Mrs. Harold Lange) and Marie, (Mrs. Vernon Lange) both of St. Louis; two brothers: Florence of Marthasville and Erwin of Washington; two sisters: Mrs. Adele Fortmann of Marthasville and Mrs. Ida Waltemath of St. Louis; also sisters- in-law, a brother-in-law, three sons-in-law. two daughters-in- law; ten grandchildren; other relatives and many friends. Funeral services were held on Wednesday. August 6, 1959, at the E.&R. Church of Christ." ~ The Marthasville Record, Friday, August 7, 1959, Page 1
