This cairn sits on the summit of the 252 metre Turin Hill, near the town of Forfar in Angus. Embedded in the cairn on its north side a plaque with the following inscription. "This cairn was raised in memory of B.S.M. William McKay Jamieson of Aberdeen. He was serving with the Scottish Horse / Royal Artillery, and was killed during a training exercise saving the lives of his fellow soldiers. 23rd June 1943." The cairn commands a fine view of the Grampian Mountains to the north and the North Sea coast to the east.
