Located at Ontario Place, the Cinesphere is the world's first permanent IMAX movie theatre. A triodetic-dome structure the Cinesphere was built in 1971 and designed by architect Eberhard Zeidler. The first film was North of Superior.
In 2011 the theatre was upgraded to IMAX GT 3D. In 2012 the Cinesphere closed with the rest of Ontario Place for renovations. IMAX has since used the theatre for testing it's new laser projection system.
