The Washington County Museum of Fine Arts is located in City Park in Hagerstown, MD. The archway, called "The Stoa" stands at the entrance to the courtyard leading into the museum. A brass marker affixed to the arch indicates that The Stoa was provided as a gift from benefactors R. Kathleen and Dominick J. Perlini. The cornerstones have three dates:
1930 - the building of the original museum and archway
1948 - the addition of two wings
1994 - an additional building constructed.
The top of the arch features a saying by Oscar Wilde: "The secret of life is in art".
The front features "The Washington County Museum of Fine Arts".
