Located near to the village of Beli in the NE sector of Cres, Croatias second largest island. Beli lies on a knobbly hill overlooking the channel dividing Cres from the island of Krk. Park your car/bike at the Caput Insulae Ecology centre, which is dedicated to monitoring and protecting the islands indigenous Griffon Vultures, at N 45 06.852 E 014 21.068 . From here walk up one of the 'ecology trails' up the hill, along the road. There is pleanty of ecology on either side, but the trail itself is a bulldozer excavated scar to be frank. Keep walking up the hill until you pass a small wooden direction sign on the right hand side. Now you have perhaps 400 metres more to walk until you see a small path running downhill from the road, into the woods. Its not a maze as such but there are two entrances into it. One is a very very long walk in, the other is a long walk in. Which are you going to take??. The GPS cant help now. You must keep going once in, and you cannot cross the stones! Take your own water supply because if you split up and take both routes you may not meet for some time! and it can be thirsty work. There is a way round that particular problem (see photos). Take a rock with you and leave it in the middle. Have an apple when you have finnished, there is a big tree nearby. Enjoy and may the kharma be good.
