Lewes, Sussex, is twinned with Blois (pronounced Blue-ah), in the Loire in France and Waldshut-Tiengen (Valdsuit-Ting-en) in the Black Forest in Germany. (Click on their names for their location - opens in a new tab.)
Over the years members of Lewes Twinning Association have met and made great friends in both towns and there are regular visits to Blois and Waldshut-Tiengen and return visits by them to us.
The aim of Lewes Twinning Assocation is to promote contact and friendship with people from both towns. There are trips arranged, staying in people's homes rather than hotels, and visits are made to experience the beautiful scenery of the Loire or the Black Forest. There are also many festivals in the towns, regularly attended by members of Lewes Twinning Association.
This site should give you a great idea of what we get up to, the events that happen between the three towns, and how you can join.
If you wonder whether "twinning" still serves a purpose today, see our History page.
