This little bridge leading onto the beach from Mill Ball Hill, Crackington Haven, was originally constructed in 1896, and the date stone on the east side bears the inscription C.B 1896, but a second plaque on the other side of the parapet states that Cornwall County Council rebuilt the bridge after the flood of 16 August 2004.

You can read more about the flood here (visit link) , although the article focusses mostly on Boscastle a few miles up the road. The damage in Crackington was just as severe.
