The first written mention of Dubnany is attested from 1349. In its boom owes Dubnany glassmaking, whose origins date back to the period from 1873 to 1875 and then as the mining industry, which dates back to the interface of the 18th and 19th centuries. All this is now a thing of the past. Dubnany to the city were commissioned in 1964. The city currently has 6,700 inhabitants and cadastre covers an area of 2700 ha. They dubnany have a character: a green shield upright white lobed leaf oak on which lies oak twig with five symmetrically spaced acorns brown color.

The city is surrounded by forest complex called Doubrava - mostly oak forests - from the name of the city. The downside Doubrava attracts not only for romantic walks, but it is also a paradise for mushroom pickers, hunters and lovers of natural beauty. Ethnography are components of Moravian Slovakia and a part called Kyjovské Dolnácko. The city has many traditions, folk art and customs that are still very active.
