[FR] Le gabarit spécifique du canal de l'Ourcq avec des courbes serrées, une faible profondeur et des écluses ne faisant que 3,20 mètres de large lors de sa construction, a conditionné la taille des bateaux qui y circulaient. Les flûtes d'Ourcq ont navigué sur tout le parcours des canaux parisiens dès leur achèvement jusqu'à l’arrêt du trafic de marchandises sur la partie à petit gabarit du canal de l'Ourcq en 1960.
Longues de 28 à 34 mètres, larges de 2,70 mètres et ayant à pleine charge un enfoncement dans l'eau de 80 centimètres, les flûtes d'Ourcq pouvaient transporter 50 à 80 tonnes de marchandises, essentiellement du bois, des céréales, des pierres de carrière, du sable et du plâtre.
[FR] The particular size of the Ourcq canal, with its tight curves, shallow depth and locks only 3,20 meters wide at the time of their construction, restricted the size of the boats that could navigate it. The Ourcq flutes navigated through all Parisian canals from the time of their establishment up until the end of cargo transport through the narrow part of the Ourcq canal in 1960.
With a length of 28 to 34 meter, and 2.7 meters wide and a draft when fully loaded of 80 centimeters, the Ourcq flutes could transport 50 to 80 tons of cargo, essentially wood, grain, quarry stone, sand and plaster.
