The beach of Praia da Amoreira is within the Vicentine Coast Natural Park and is at the mouth of the Aljezur River. The beach has a wide expanse of fine, golden sand backed by deep sand dunes. At the southern end of the beach is the mouth of the river Aljezur and it's about 8.7km north west of that village.
At the boardwalk stairs down to the south side of the beach, near the Restaurante Taberna Do Gabriel Ii on the cliff top is a warning sign, that the cliffs are unstable and care must be taken when on the beach in this area. An aerial photo has been annotated with the cliff edge and the hazard area beneath, also indicated is the safe bathing zone. The beach is patrolled by lifeguards during the summer season.
