This Walnut Grove schoolhouse was original to the site on which it stands. Originally known as Butler #2 School, this white frame building was built in the 1870’s. Prior to that, children attended school in a log cabin. Classes were held here until 1968 when the Conservation Board purchased the building. It is now used as a museum to show today’s youth what education was like in bygone years and to take older folks on a trip down Memory Lane. Five of the desks on display are original to the school while the rest were donated.
