This sculpture has been just finished. There's still wood chips on the lawn around it. Not only is the carving great, the location is too. It's easily seen from the street, the park and the Fox river. It's displayed proudly near the American flag, which was blowing in the breeze the day I was there. There's a sign displayed showing info on the carver! Viewing this spot on google earth, still shows the tree. I am not certain what kind of tree but would guess Ash, just because so many ash trees have died in the area. The graining didn't look like oak to me.
This is on the corner of North Riverside Dr and Park St. The spot on google map is wrong.
Type of wood carving: Chainsaw, grinder, chisel & carving tools
Approximate size/height: Not sure, but 8 to 10 feet tall would be my guess
 Other type: Not listed
 Artist's Name: Not listed
 Type of wood: Not listed
