The pavers are located around the monument which stands in the Civil War section of Rosehill Cemetery. The monument was placed on June 22, 2013 by the Sons of Confederate Veterans and is dedicated to the veterans of the War for Southern Independence.

Most of the pavers bear the names of great great grandchildren of Civil War Confederate soldiers, or the names of their ancestor. The monument was placed in recognition of the Sesquicentennial of the War for Southern Independence.

To the west of this monument are 190 burial sites of Civil War Confederate veterans.
