Located south of the city of Ardmore, Rosehill Cemetery is one of several cemeteries adjacent to each other. On the northern edge of Rosehill, is a large section containing military headstones of veterans of the Confederacy.
A monument stands at the center of this section constructed of white stone blocks. A bronze plaque on the east side reads: "Dedicated to the veterans of the War for Southern Independence, those interred here and those resting in the countless and forgotten corners of Oklahoma. In grateful memory of their devotion and service to the Confederacy, to their home states and the indispensable contributions to the settlement of the twin Territories and Statehood."
On the west side is a plaque indicating that the monument was placed by the Sons of Confederate Veterans in 2013. It reads: "MMXIII / In recognition . The Sesquicentennial of the War for Southern Independence / Deo Vindice". Beneath this is the emblem of this organization which shows the "Stars and Bars" and the date 1896. "Deo Vindice" is the motto of the Confederate States of America, and translates "God will prove us right."
To the west of this monument are 190 burial sites of Civil War veterans.
