* October 1972 - Artist Remo Scardigli installs his cast concrete sculpture on the west wall of the store, facing Irving Street. Figures in the work "salute the business, agriculture and professional faces of the San Angelo economy," a reporter explains.

* January 1986 - The downtown H-W store closes.

* 1996 - The city of San Angelo buys the downtown H-W building.

* October 2008 - Construction begins to renovate the building into a public library.
