In our travels, Dairy Queen is one of our typical stops for one of their soft ice cream cones and today was no exception. This timeline was an unexpected surprise.

The timeline showcases the history of Orange Julius and its association with Dairy Queen in later years.

1926 - Julius Freed and his partner Bill Hamlin open an orange juice stand in Los Angeles at 820 South Broadway.
1929 - Hamlin has opened 100 Orange Julius stores across the United States. 1962 - The first Orange Julius open in Canada.
1964 - Orange Julius is the official drink of the 1964-65 World's Fair in New York.
1965 -The first Orange Julius kiosk location opens in Topanga Plaza in Los Angeles.
1965 - Johnny Carson is presented with a lifetime pass to all Orange Julius locations in America.
1966 - Apollo 14 Astronaut Alan Shepard visits an Orange Julius store and is presented a lifetime pass to all Orange Julius locations in America.
1967 - Orange Julius of America is acquired by International Industries, Inc.
1968 - Orange Julius drinks and hot dogs are served at the Grauman's Chinese Theatre in Hollywood for a special Bob Hope movie premiere.
1975 - A group of Orange Julius franchisees and shareholders purchase the brand from International Industries, Inc.
1976 - Orange Julius expands into the Philippines.
1977 - The first Orange Julius store opens in Hong Kong.
1982 - The first Orange Julius store opens in Singapore.
1985 - Orange Julius debuts the Julius Cream Supreme drink line, which evolved into the Julius Classic Smoothie, the original fruit smoothie.
1987 - Orange Julius is purchased by International Dairy Queen, Inc.
2001 - Orange Julius celebrates 75 years of expertise in the frozen blended fruit drink industry.
Today - Orange Julius continues to offer great drinks throughout North America and the world.
