Flagman Fred is located beside the rail crossing by which the trains used to enter the workshops for maintainance and repair. on the back of Fred there is a plaque which reads "The flagman, still seen at this spot, but now with a mobile phone"
This is one of a series of quirky long-legged sculptures which paid tribute to the strong connection between the workers, family and friends of the Midland Railway Workshop which closed in 1994.
